Do you have a burning question about a subject of Black history?
Do you have some valuable information about a topic of Black history that will answer questions that others have?
Then you have come to the right place.
The purpose of this site is to serve as a platform for people with an interest in Black history to have their questions answered by people who are familiar with the subject in question.
Black narratives and Black inquiries receive too little attention in institutions dedicated to mainstream education.
We want to place the study of Black history entirely in the power of Black people themselves.
For this reason, we prioritize Black scholarship here above all else.
The information posted on this site is provided by a dedicated team of Black researchers.
This information is for the enlightenment of anyone with a passion for the study of Black history.
Send us a question and if you see an already resolved question that you are able to provide further answers for, leave an answer in the comments under the article.
Here’s the steps involved in our Q&A process:
- A question is submitted through our website, to our email or in our public Facebook group Black History Questions and Answers.
- The message, email or post is then referred to the members of our Black Researchers United research network for a follow-up. First, it is shared to our research forum at forum.blackresearchersunited.net. Then, it is shared to our private Facebook group Black Researchers United.
- Members in our BRU site forum and Facebook group will collaborate in order to present an answer for the question. If there are no volunteers, one of our research teams will be assigned to address the question.
- After about 3-10 days, both the original question and the answer(s) to that question will be shared to the BHQA Facebook page as a single post.
- The information from that post will be published to the blog on this site as a short article. The article will also be shared with the person who asked the question using the same method that was originally used for submitting the question. (If the question was submitted by email, then the article will be sent by email. If the question was posted to our BHQA Facebook group, then the article will be posted in the comment thread under that post.)
Questions submitted through our website, by email, and through the BHQA Facebook group can be submitted anonymously (please specify with your submission). However, answers will always be provided publicly along with the original question as submitted.
Our website and auxiliary platforms are operated by Black Researchers United L.L.C.
We aim to maintain BHQA and BRU as safe spaces for the purposes of research and education. We hope that you will help us in our efforts to keep all discussions respectful and informative.
We only have one rule when it comes to the content that we are willing to accept. We believe in evidence-based research and reporting. As such, no claim(s) shared to our sites, pages or groups will be approved without at least one source identified with said claim(s). There are no exceptions.
If you have elected to provide your contact information with your submission, we will update you on the progress of our research into your query. Please allow for a reasonable amount of time for a response to your question. Response time varies based on a number of factors, including the energy required to complete the research, the accessibility of resources, and the scale of the difficulty. If you are going to share content from this site, be sure to credit the contributor(s) listed inside the article and to include a link to the article where you are sharing that content.
Thank you for your cooperation and we hope that you enjoy the process of learning as much as we enjoy the process of research that is necessary in order for us to present nothing less than the very best answers to each and every last one of your most challenging questions.
